I honestly cannot stand it whenever references to the fandom are made in the show. For example, Lyra and Bon Bon’s friendship, the names given to several different background ponies, and especially Derpy. If you ask me, it’s just slight ass kissing and pandering.

Lyra and Bon Bon are put together because their colours match and it makes a nice background, no friendship or romance there, just colours.

The only fanon name that made it into canon was Derpy so why are you speaking in plural??

Besides, many of the episodes people complained were “pandering” were written or being thought about waaaay back when S1 was initially airing, long before bronies even existed, for example, Magic Duel.

And even if they do throw small references to the fandom then what’s the problem? It’s not like there’s a whole episode about fanon, most of the time it’s a very short scene or phrase. I remember when people were grateful for being recognized like this but wow, this fandom has so many whiners.
